EVENT OVERVIEW
Most jurisdictions have now published their final or near-final Basel 3 standards. The Implementation date of those standards remains in question with the EU delaying the market risk standards for 1 year and the UK and US looking very unlikely to meet their current implementation timelines of 1st July 2025. The question now turns to the impact of divergences of the capital rules implementation across jurisdictions and latest trends including the significant drop of internal models for capital management. In the aftermath of the Archegos crisis, the BCBS is taking a holistic approach to reviewing counterparty credit risk management. Meanwhile, regulators globally continue to consider climate-related financial risks, with consultation papers issued to better understand the challenges that banks and other stakeholders face.
This event will examine the key developments and challenges related to the implementation of the trading book capital framework. Panelists will discuss implementation timelines, remaining challenges, and future areas of focus.
